Practice powerful Pauses

It might seem counter productive in today’s culture, but, trust me, it is not. Mindful pauses can align help you gather your energy, bring clarity, sharpen your focus and of course reflect on our journey till the moment.  Mindfulness teacher Thich Nhat Hanh writes, “‘Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves – slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future” and this sort of mindful tea drinking can become a fertile resting space from where powerful action emerges.

Amp up your alertness

Tea contains just the right amount of caffeine which boosts alertness. If you love ginger tea, there is good news, ginger helps increase attention and cognitive function in addition to a host of other health benefits. If Green tea is your jam, rejoice more. An amino acid found in green tea, theanine is shown to increase alpha brain wave activity which induces a feeling of concentration that lasts longer than caffeine induced alertness. It also decreases anxiety which of course help you to joyfully perform your tasks. A cup of tea also slightly increases the body temperature which helps curb fatigue and sleepiness.

Tackle stressful situations better

According to a London University study, you are able to de-stress more quickly if you are a black tea drinker. The study showed, drinking black tea for four times a day for 6 weeks results in lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol.  Besides, tea hydrates the body and provides anti-oxidants, this is in turn keeps you better prepared for any challenges that you come across. The anti-oxidants also make you look and feel younger, what can boost your confidence more than feeling dynamic from within?

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote “ There is a great deal of poetry and fine sentiment in a chest of tea.”  Whether or not your work involves artistic creativity, a cup of tea can do magic with warmth, aroma and so many health benefits. Now, you don’t even need to spend time in brewing your favorite cup.
